John James Audubon - HAVELL EDITION - Print Gallery

John James Audubon completed his magnificant work Birds of America in 1838. The work consisted of 435 double elephant folio (DEF) sized aquatints, which were engraved and hand colored by the firm of Robert Havell in London, England. The birds were all painted life size. The paper used for this edition is approximately 27 1/2 by 39 1/2 inches in size and carries a watermark saying "J Whatman" or "J Whatman Turkey Mill" with a date. Fewer than 200 prints of each image was produced. That original first edition is called the Havell edition.

All Havell edition prints listed below are for sale and are authentic Havell edition originals.
